β€œDesigner & maker capturing the beautiful details of traditional buildings in cabinets and boxes. Whether it is a single detail or entire theme from the buildings, they are recreated with the same enthusiasm so others can experience these incredible buildings.

I started my career working in car design before moving into furniture. Working on cars from luxury brands which cared about proportion and details mirrors my own requirements for an object. It also enhanced my skills for taking a simple sketch and turning that into the final design. Keeping the proportions and details intact all the way through the design process. I talk about my process on the Commissioning & Process page.”

About Me

Materials

β€œThe beautiful timber is sourced locally from the area of Edinburgh and Fife. The woodgrain and patterns of these hardwoods are incredible and show what hardwoods can truly be like. I like to use almost all of the usable timber, even if there may be the odd knot or burr. Each item is unique to the timber chosen.

Scottish oak, ash & elm are the most used used types of timber I use.

Additional materials such as the thatch are sourced from the Tay Reedbeds in Fife. These are managed carefully by the RSPB and they are harvested to ensure the habitats of the wildlife are not damaged.”
